In the afternoon, a short visit to the new city, with a stop at the Royal Palace, which has been superbly restored in modern times, and Al Mellah, the old Jewish quarter: now few Jews live there, but the houses, with windows and balconies overlooking the streets, are in stark contrast with the Muslim tradition.
